rBGH Growth Hormones in Milk

Milk is the best source of calcium. 3 cups a day is the recommended standard. I hate drinking milk and eating dairy products. Not because I don't like the taste, but because of all the artificial growth hormones it contains.
I just read an article from Dr. Mercola about how these hormones are a major cause of breast, colon and prostate cancer. They lead to early puberty in children. The hormone, recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH), is genetically modified. It was created in a laboratory, nothing natural about it. It was also once owned by Monsanto. The big company creating genetically modified corn, soybeans. Genetically modified foods contain bacteria and antibiotics. Totally science experiment stuff that's been leashed into the world and is creating all sorts of damage. Really freaky the United States has allowed this to happen.
Anyways, in Ohio there has been a big debate as to whether milk can have an rBGH-free label. The FDA, who's made up of many former Monsanto members, says there is no difference between milk with rBGH and milk without rBGH. Fortunately, the Ohio court has said yes there is a difference due to three reasons: More of the hormone IGF-1,2, lower nutritional quality and increased pus. Pus in the milk, yuck. Thanks to the ruling, consumers in Ohio will now be free to make their own choice as to whether or not they want to drink milk with GM hormones.
These hormones are also killing the cows within 2 1/2 years of being injected. Organically raised cows typically live 15 - 20 years.
rBGH has been banned in Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Australia and in Europe. Not in the United States though.
Here is a list of hormone free milk companies compiled by Organic Consumers.
I've been buying the Great Value brand of milk in Walmart. It does have a label which says it's farmers have promised not to use growth hormones. Back in 2008, Walmart announced their milk would now be free of growth hormones. I also switched over to organic yogurt made by Stonyfield Farm, Inc. from Vermont. I like the lowfat, plain kind. For plain yogurt, it's really good! Ben & Jerry's products are also hormone free.
Organic milk does not contain growth hormones.
If you are not currently drinking rBGH free milk, now would be a great time to switch to a brand that is rBGH free.
BTW, if you have never heard of Monsanto until now, you really need to watch Food, Inc.
